The two halfs of the body were glued together, I unscrewed the pop shield and saw that the felt inside was thin, cheap and badly cut, then I weighed the mic and it was about 30g lighter than a real beta 57, so I knew it was bogus. WebJan 15, 2007 · One thing I noticed is that the name Shure and SM57 etc is actually silkscreened on a what looks like a sticker or a metal band around the head of the mic. The metal band is embedded into a kind of channel so it looks seamless. Hard to explain verbally but it looks pretty perfect.
