The ancestral home of the Earls of Bantry, it’s a stunning stately home and is open for visitors from April until October. The home is still owned and lived in by the descendants of the 1st Earl of Bantry, but it’s been open to the public since 1946. WebWilliam (who became the 3rd Earl of Bantry in 1868) married Jane Herbert (1823 – 1898) of Muckross House, Killarney, Co. Kerry, and they had five daughters, Elizabeth, Olivia, Ina, Jane, and Mary, and an only son, William (1854 – 1891). In 1884 William became the 4th and last Earl of Bantry. In 1886, William married Rosamond Petre (d. 1942).
